Nia says:

Even though I went to live in Asia when I was nineteen, (It’s hard for me to believe I took off on my own then!) I didn’t have acupuncture until I was at least 40 years old. I think, like many people, I was intimidated and afraid of being “stuck by needles”. I thought it might hurt.

Once I tried it, I couldn’t believe how relaxed and therapeutic it felt almost instantly and I really didn’t feel the needles at all. Now, after years of having acupuncture all over Asia and with different practitioners, I have realized that each one develops their own style and brings to it their own experience.

I wanted to demystify the experience. Sue Schardt, my colleague, also felt that we had already done enough food with the other 2 radio segments and vlogs. For the third, she thought we should expand to the realm of health and lifestyle, which is what the “Spices of Life” project is all about.

We have all kinds of really neat and interesting ideas of what we are going to be doing next, so STAY TUNED!!!

Steve talks about the technical aspects of the production:

I shot this video with two Nokia N93’s. One was on a tripod and the second one was on a monopod. All the sound was recorded directly from the on camera mics. The video format is 640×480 at 30 frames per second. A 1GB memory card can get about 50 minutes on it. I transfered the video to Final Cut Pro, edited it, adding titles and graphics, and then exported it with compressor using the QuickTime H.264 settings. As part of the process of uoploading to blip.tv, the video gets converted to Flash for display on the blog. You can watch the QuickTime 640×480 or 320×240 version too by clicking the links in the post.
